Local genealogists excited about new season of “Who Do You Think You Are?”

The genealogy buzz this year centers on the release of the 1940 US Census and the season three premiere of “Who Do You Think You Are?”

The show follows celebrities who work with professional genealogists to trace their ancestry, sometimes traveling around the world following clues. Some local genealogists have their favorite celebrities to watch this season.

Debbie Pearson is the Registrar for the General Edward Tarrant Chapter of the National Society US Daughters of 1812 and a devoted fan of the show.

“I love Jason Sudeikis from ‘Saturday Night Live,’ Pearson said. “I look forward to his episode. I always love it if they can ‘cross the pond’ to their immigrant ancestry, which I think will happen to Blair Underwood in Africa.”

June Ahrens, regent for the Captain Nathaniel Mills Chapter of US Daughters of the American Revolution, is also ready to watch.
