Genealogy classes to be given in Wellington
|WELLINGTON — From noon to 4 p.m. Monday, the Sumner County Historical Genealogical Society will offer “Beginning Genealogy” classes taught by Gene Davies, professional genealogist and former information technology professional.
The session will be held at the Memorial Auditorium, 208 N. Washington, Wellington,
To sign up for the class, contact Gene Davies at (316) 371-3157 or gened@daviesonline.me.
It’s not necessary to have your own laptop, but if you do, bring it and enjoy a hands-on experience while Davies shows you how to find and use primary and secondary sources, research online at free and subscription Web sites, and organize and enter the information you locate into a family tree program.
As an added bonus, Davies will share with you how to use DNA to break down brick walls and learn your ancestral origins!
Cost for each four-hour training session will be $10 for SCHGS members and $20 for nonmembers.
(Joining the society saves $$$ on future classes in advanced genealogy, using family tree software and how to use Evernote to store photos, organize files, and back up your hard drive.)
For more information, stop by the Sumner County Historical Genealogical Society History Center at 208 N. Washington in Wellington today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (closed through the lunch hour) or contact Gene Davies at the above number or email.
