Sometimes referred to as All Fools’ Day, April 1 is not a national holiday but is widely recognized and celebrated as a day when many people play all kinds of jokes and foolishness …The earliest recorded association between April 1 and foolishness can be found in Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales (1392). Many writers suggest that the restoration of January 1 as New Year’s Day in the 16th century was responsible for the creation of the holiday.

3. 1st Annual Bark for Life Event in Westlake Village

Bark for Life is a one mile non-competitive walk, with canine games and contests, Kids Corner with games and crafts, canine vendors, human vendors, Dogtown Dogs truck from Santa Monica, Ventura Co Search and Rescue demo, Yoga with your Doga demo, agility demo, canine CPR and an emergency preparedness demo. The event starts at 10:30 a.m. and meets at 31800 Village Center Rd, Westlake Village. The cost is $20.00 per Walker and dog ($5.00 for additional dog).

4. ASPCA Mega Match-a-thon at the Animal Shelter

This is part of a nationwide animal shelter adoption event. There will be discounts on adoption fees, free collars, leashes and ID tags. All animals are fixed, vaccinated and micro-chipped.
