A Call For Genealogy Volunteers ~ Bluffton, TX

News was released today of the recent exposure of a cemetery that has been buried under 30 feet of water by the manmade Lake Buchanan near Bluffton, Texas.

The Fox News article included a photo of the tombstone for Johnny D. Parks who was born 17 Oct 1881 and died 15 Oct 1882 that is once again exposed to the sun.

The article goes on to talk about another cemetery that is now similarly exposed after being under the Navarro County, Texas reservoir. It may contain the graves of freed slaves .

Are there any genealogy and Find-a-grave volunteers in the area who will take the time to inventory these cemeteries and post the information and tombstone photos online and on  Find-a-grave so the data and images are not lost to the world again when the lake levels rise?

Normally wet months are ahead of us, so the time to visit the cemeteries may be short.  Please take this opportunity to Pay-It-Forward.
