Genealogical road trips : The Bastrop Advertiser
|The Bastrop Genealogical Society will feature former Austin Genealogical Society president Cindy Foreman at their meeting Saturday, Sept. 8 at 2 p.m. Bastrop Public Library, 1100 Church St.
Foreman will deliver her genealogy message “Pure Adrenalin: Genealogy Road Trips.” Presently, Foreman is vice president for programs at Wimberly Valley Genealogical Society. She brings more than 20 years of experience as a family genealogist and is much sought after to present at local venues. Her sense of humor, knowledge of the subject and willingness to answer questions and help her audience be prepared to understand and enjoy the topic will make this meeting of the BGS a memorable occasion.
Among the topics to be covered are preparing for the road trip, what to take and what to leave home; what to do with the unusual discoveries sometimes made on road trips, working in courthouses around the country and what to do with the old tombstones encountered along the way. Tales from her traveling experiences will keep the subject moving right along. Foreman recently returned from the Federation of Genealogical Societies yearly conference in Birmingham, Ala.
Everyone is invited to the meeting. No membership is required and it will be a great chance to check out the genealogy materials at the library and find people to help you with your own family genealogy. For more information, contact Jean Zurow at 512-789-9903
